Nylink Notes - New URL

Nylink Notes is moving.

From now on this blog will be found at http://nylink.org/blog. This change will not affect you if you traditionally come to it through the Nylink publications page. If you have bookmarked http://nylinknotes.blogspot.com/ you will want to change your browser's bookmark to http://nylink.org/blog. If you have subscribed to the RSS web/news feed you should see no disruption in your feed.

If you have not subscribed to the Nylink Notes web/news feed in the past, please try it out – if you use Firefox's live bookmarks, Google's Reader (or numerous other news readers/aggregators) add this new feed URL (http://feeds.feedburner.com/nylinknotes) and you are ready to go. If you have never subscribed to a news feed, it is a great way to read over the latest headlines and tidbits of information on your own terms. Wikipedia.org has a nice overview on web (or news) feed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_fee

Why we are moving the blog? While we have have happily used the Blogger hosted service for over a year now, by moving the Nylink Notes locally gives us more control over the look and usability of the blog.

Teresa Strozik, Former Associate Director at Nylink, Dies

We recently learned that librarianship and the world of information have lost a long-time proponent, Teresa Strozik on January 2nd.

Ms. Strozik was one of the forces behind Nylink and New York State libraries, as our own Mary Edgerton remembers:

I knew Teresa for many years first in my role as catalog librarian in New York State libraries where I came to rely on the SUNY/OCLC (now Nylink) Network for training in MARC Format and cataloging rules and OCLC systems. Later I worked for Teresa when she was Associate Director of the SUNY/OCLC Network. Along with Glyn Evans, Teresa built SUNY/OCLC (now Nylink) and did much to further New York State libraries. I enjoyed working for Teresa and she will be missed by librarians everywhere.

Ms. Strozik's obituary can be found in the Syracuse Post Standard (first appearing January 5th) http://obits.syracuse.com/Syracuse/Obituaries.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=122233950
